WORLD CUP GOAL 54 CHALLENGE
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. INTERNET ACCESS AND A VALID E-MAIL ADDRESS ARE REQUIRED TO ENTER. Brazilian Sugar Cane World Cup Goal 54 Challenge (“Challenge”) begins on 6/16/10 and ends whenever the fifty-fourth (54th) goal is scored from among all Soccer Games played during the 2010 World Cup Tournament. In the event there are no Entrants who submitted the correct Country Team and Player who scored the fifty-fourth (54th) Goal by the date and time the fifty-fourth (54th) Goal is scored during the 2010 World Cup Tournament, the Challenge will be extended until the one hundred and eighth (108th) Goal is scored from among all Soccer Games played during the 2010 World Cup Tournament.
ELIGIBILITY: Open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 or older at the time of entry, excluding employees of the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (“Sponsor”), and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, related companies and advertising and promotion agencies (collectively, “Released Entities”), and the families and/or household members of each of the above. Sweepstakes void where prohibited.
HOW ENTER: Go to www.sweeteralternative.com and complete the Official Online Entry Form by submitting your complete name, address including zip code, daytime and evening telephone numbers including area code, a valid email address, your birth date and the name of the Country Team and Player and the Minute of the Game when the fifty-fourth (54th) goal will be scored from among all Soccer Games played during the 2010 World Cup Tournament. Limit one (1) Entry per person per day. In the event a person submits multiple entries on a given day, only the first entry submitted will be eligible and all additional entries submitted that day will be void. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible or incomplete entries, all of which are void. Entries become Sponsor’s property and will not be acknowledged or returned. Use of automated devices are not valid for entry. Any Entry that is submitted with the use of an automated device will be void.
WINNER DETERMINATION: The Entrant who submits an Entry which includes the correct Country Team and Player that scored the fifty-fourth (54th) Goal during the 2010 World Cup Tournament will be deemed the Grand Prize Winner. In the event of a tie, the Grand Prize Winner will be determined by the tied entrant who submitted the closest to the minute of the Game when the fifty-fourth (54th) Goal was scored during the 2010 World Cup Tournament. In the event there is still a tie, the Grand Prize Winner will be determined by the tied entrant who submitted the Entry first. In the event there are no Entrants who submitted the correct Country Team and Player who scored the fifty-fourth (54th) Goal by the date and time the fifty-fourth (54th) Goal is scored during the 2010 World Cup Tournament, the Grand Prize Winner will be determined by the Entrant who submits an Entry which includes the correct Country Team and Player who scored the one hundred and eighth (108th) Goal during the 2010 World Cup Tournament. In the event of a tie, the Grand Prize Winner will be determined by the tied entrant who submitted the closest to the minute of the Game when the one hundred and eighth (108th) Goal was scored during the 2010 World Cup Tournament. In the event there is still a tie, the Grand Prize Winner will be determined by the tied entrant who submitted the Entry first. In the event there are no Entrants who submitted the correct Country Team and Player who scored the one hundred and eighth (108th) Goal during the 2010 World Cup Tournament, a Grand Prize Winner will not be determined and the Grand Prize will not be awarded. All decisions of the judges will be final.
ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize: Grand Prize is a trip for Grand Prize Winner and one (1) guest to Rio De Janiero, Brazil to attend the 2011 Rio Carnival consisting of round trip coach air transportation between major commercial airport nearest Grand Prize Winner’s residence and Rio De Janiero, Brazil, six (6) nights’ hotel accommodations (double occupancy room and tax only), and VIP tickets to attend the Carnival Celebration between March 7, 2011 and March 12, 2011. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize: $11,000. Grand Prize Winner and Guest must travel on dates designated by Sponsor which depart on March 7, 2011 and return on March 13, 2011. In the event the Grand Prize Winner cannot travel on dates designated by Sponsor, the VIP tickets to the 2011 Rio Carnival will not be provided and no compensation will be provided in lieu of the VIP tickets, and Grand Prize Winner travel must be completed by December 31, 2011. Airline, hotel and seating will be designated by Sponsor. Actual value of Grand Prize may vary based on airfare fluctuations. In the event the designated Guest is deemed a minor (under applicable state law), such Guest’s parent or legal guardian must sign and return all required documentation. All Grand Prize travel is subject to terms and conditions and availability. Grand Prize travel must be round trip. Sponsor will determine airport of departure and flight itinerary in its sole discretion. No refund or compensation will be made in the event of a cancellation or delay of any flight. All expenses and incidental travel costs not expressly stated in the prize description herein, including but not limited to, ground transportation between Winner’s residence and airport of departure, ground transportation in Rio De Janiero, meals and beverages, incidentals, upgrades, baggage fees, gratuities, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, airport fees, required travel documents (a government issued photo ID, valid U.S. Passport and VISA), service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes or any other expenses are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. Grand Prize Winner will be required to provide a valid credit card upon hotel registration for all personal incidentals charged to the Grand Prize Winner’s hotel room during his/her stay and Grand Prize Winner will be solely responsible such hotel charges. Travel restrictions, conditions and limitations may apply. Grand Prize Winner and Guest must travel on same itinerary. Sponsor shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitutions or any act or omissions whatsoever by hotels or other transportation companies or any other persons providing any of these services and accommodations to passengers including any results thereof such as changes in services or accommodations necessitated by same. Sponsor shall not be liable for any loss or damage to baggage. Grand Prize Trip is subject to any and all restrictions instituted by the Department of Defense and/or Department of Homeland Security as required. Sponsor is not responsible for any fees or additional charges resulting from Prize Winner or Guest changes to flight itinerary or accommodations. Grand Prize Winner and Guest are solely responsible for their own travel insurance. In the event the 2011 Rio Carnival is cancelled or postponed for any reason that portion of the Grand Prize will not be provided and Sponsor will not provide any additional compensation in lieu of the cancelled Event. Any difference between the stated approximate retail value and the actual value of any prize will not be awarded.
PRIZE ACCEPTANCE: Grand Prize is not transferable. No prize substitutions or cash redemptions allowed except by Sponsor, who may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if an advertised prize becomes unavailable. All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. Grand Prize Winner will receive a 1099 IRS tax form at year end for the actual retail value of prize. Grand Prize Winner will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Prize Acceptance/Release of Liability and Publicity (where permitted) within a time period designated by Sponsor, or prize may be forfeited. Non-compliance will result in disqualification of such potential Prize Winner. By signing and returning an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity and Travel Release, Grand Prize Winner provides permission to Sponsor to use his/her Entry, name, hometown and/or likeness/photograph for promotional, advertising and/or publicity purposes in any media, known or hereafter invented throughout the world in perpetuity, without further notice or compensation and to be subject to a personal background check, except where prohibited by law. Sponsor will make two (2) attempts to notify the Potential Grand Prize Winner at the email address submitted at the time of entry. If the Potential Grand Prize Winner cannot be reached, if he/she is found to ineligible, if he/she cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, or if his/her prize or prize notification or any prize correspondence is returned as undeliverable, the Potential Grand Prize Winner may be disqualified. Guest of Grand Prize Winner will be responsible for signing and returning an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity and Travel Release (where permitted) within a time period designated by Sponsor. Any Prize won by a minor (under applicable state law) will be awarded in minor’s name to a parent or legal guardian, who will be required to sign all required documents.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: By submitting an entry, you warrant that you are a legal resident of the United States of America and not: i) represented under a contract (e.g., by a talent agent or manager) that would in any way limit or impair Sponsor’s ability to display or use your name, likeness, or any work that you have created in any media form; ii) subject to an acting, modeling, or any other contract that would make your appearance in the work a violation of any third-party rights; or iii) under any other contractual relationship, including but not limited to any guild or union memberships, that may prevent Sponsor from being able to use the work or image worldwide in all media in perpetuity on a royalty-free basis, without any payment or fee obligations of any kind. By participating in the Challenge, Grand Prize Winner agrees to release Sponsor and its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, related companies and advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents from any and all liability, loss or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with their participation in this Challenge or with respect to awarding, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of any Prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any printing, typographical, mechanical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Challenge or in the announcement of the prize. Sponsor is not responsible for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind, or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive entry information by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion via mobile phone. If for any reason, this Challenge is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Challenge, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Challenge. Sponsor reserves the right to select winner from eligible entries received as of the termination date. Sponsor further reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. By entering the Challenge, each entrant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Challenge, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (ii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out‑of‑pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Challenge, but in no event will attorneys’ fees be awarded or recoverable; and (iii) under no circumstances will any entrant be permitted to obtain any award for, and each entrant hereby knowingly and expressly waives all rights to seek, punitive, incidental or consequential damages and/or any other damages, other than actual out‑of‑pocket expenses, and/or any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. By entering and participating, entrant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Entities from and against any and all claims, demands, liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described) losses, costs or expenses, with respect to or arising out of or related to: (i) entrant’s participation in the Challenge, and (ii) entrant's acceptance, use or misuse of a prize (including, without limitation, any property loss, damage, personal injury or death caused to any person(s)). Winners assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Challenge or use or redemption of a prize. In the event the integrity and/or feasibility of the Challenge is undermined by any event including but not limited to fire, flood, epidemic, earthquake, explosion, labor dispute, or strike, act of God or public enemy, satellite or equipment failure, riot or civil disturbance, war (declared or undeclared), terrorist threat or activity, or any federal, state, provincial or local government law, order of regulation, order of any court or jurisdiction, or other cause not reasonably within the Sponsor’s control (each a “Force Majeure” event) the Sponsor shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to abbreviate, modify, suspend, cancel or terminate the Challenge without notice or further obligation. If the Sponsor, in its discretion, elects to abbreviate, cancel or terminate the Challenge as a result of a Force Majeure event, the Sponsor reserves the right, but shall have no obligation, to award the prizes from among all valid and eligible entries received up to the time of such Force Majeure event.
WINNERS LIST/OFFICIAL RULES: To obtain a name of the Grand Prize Winner available after July 30, 2010, or a copy of the Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to be received by November 30, 2010 to: Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association World Cup Goal 54 Challenge, c/o Centra Marketing & Communications, LLC, 1400 Old Country Road, Suite 420, Westbury, NY 11590. Please specify “Official Rules” or “Winners List” on the outer mailing envelope.
